Thai citizens are required to have a visa in order to be able to enter Sweden and other Schengen countries which include Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Germany and Austria A visa is normally granted for a maximum of 90 days.The processing time is around 7 working days from the day of applying. In some cases, the applications will be sent to the Swedish Migration Board for decision, in which case it can take around 1-3 months. Complete documentation is always required as well as personal appearance at the Embassy by all applicants. An incomplete application including incorrectly completed application forms may result in refusal, in which case a new application must be submitted. All documents have to be written in English or in Swedish. Since June 1, 2004 medical insurance is compulsory for vistitors to Sweden and other Schengenstates. You may provide either a policy from an insurance company based in Europe or in Thailand. Please note that only certain insurance companies in Thailand are accepted. The insurance must cover at least 30 000 Euro or 1 500 000 Baht and include costs for medical treatment, hospitalization and repatriation due to injury or medical resons. The insurance must be vaild in all Schengen states and cover the total length of stay. The reimbursement from the insurance company must be payable in any EU-country, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. The insurance certificate must be shown when the application is submitted. Please notice that you have to bring your travelinsurance with you when traveling due to checks at the bordercontroll while entering Schengen. Do not buy a flight ticket before you got the visa. The Visa Section at the Embassy of Sweden is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 8am-12 pm only. |
